About me

My name is Gail.  I am a product of the 70’s and 80’s.  I am a glad, because it was a very exciting time and inventive time.  I was raised on the east coast and am one of eight children.  My mother is a German immigrant, and father was raised in the Midwest.  I was a “Navy Brat” and later a Navy wife.  My oldest would have been 22 this year, and my youngest just turned four.
My lifelong dream, which started long before I knew what the alphabet was, was to be a writer.  However, I was not a good reader growing up and sort of skimmed through school.  During my youth, my mother read me every fairy tales available, and my crazy brothers cemented my eclectic tastes with hours of watching Star Wars, E. T., Back to the Future, the Goonies, Labyrinth, the Muppets, Blade Runner, Superman, Krull, 2001 a Space Oddesy, Jaws, and other mad, impossible sci-fi dreams that devoured our days and drove our parents crazy.
As I read bed time stories to my children every night since they were babies, and my reading skills improved.  These wonderful stories allowed my imagination to blossom, and has allowed me to feel like a kid again, making up for lost time.  My favorite place to go now is the library, in the children section, because writers who specialize in books for kids have a limitless freedom that allows their imagination to go anywhere that they can take it.
I am inspired by the classics like Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, Repunzel, Cinderella, the Phantom Toll Booth, Lord of the Rings, Little Mermaid, and all of the Brothers Grimm stories, and the Hans Christen Anderson stories, like The Little Match Girl and many... many others.  I am also inspired by modern writer such as Neil Gaiman, Jenny Nimmo, J. K. Rowling, and a wide range of other children’s and young adult authors.
I am so proud of my work and I hope that one day I will be able to share it.  There can never be enough dreams loose in the world.
I will continue to dream, continue to hope, and continue to work my tail off and in the mean time, I invite you to take a chance and read my other blog at www.myonceuponatimejourney.blogspot.com.
Thank you sincerely,
